What are the different types of panoramic wallpaper?
Panoramic wallpaper is a type of wall representation that contrasts with repetitive pattern wallpaper.
As early as the 18th century, panoramic decorations were pasted onto walls and depicted hunting scenes and landscapes, and were often hymns to Nature and warlike exploits.
They were printed on Dominoes, printed boards measuring 50cm x 50cm, and "folded", i.e. glued together to create a large surface decoration.
Wallpaper has undergone a revolution, both technically and in terms of the materials used.
Today, panoramic decors occupy a wide choice among the "wallpapers" offered by publishers.
Today's trends are no longer "all over", which in the 1950s/60s made living rooms, bedrooms and corridors look like bonbonnières where we were immersed in a single design from wall to ceiling!
The current revival of wallpaper is understood as the decoration of a wall with a strong pattern along its entire length, and the "panoramic" corresponds to this expectation: whether the decoration is of a fixed width and height or is customised to the dimensions of the wall.
The second major innovation in wallpaper in the 2000s was the creation of so-called "non-woven" paper, the technical composition of which you will find below.
This non-woven wallpaper is printed directly onto, or laminated to, a fabric, vinyl or other surface, giving it thickness and making it easier to hang the wallpaper or the chosen decor.
The success of panoramic decor is essentially due to its printing method, which is no longer based on the cylinder traditionally used by printers, but on highly sophisticated digital printers. This technique makes it possible to create the decor you want, to personalise it to the dimensions you require and, for the publisher, to limit excessive stocks.
